You may not have heard about TikTok, but your kids definitely have. In fact, about 500 million teens and girls in the world are using video sharing applications, and this number is increasing. According to TechCrunch, this application was the most downloaded in the world in the first quarter of 2018, with an estimated 45.8 million downloads. It is more than Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube.

 But what is TechTok
TikTok, also known as "Douyin" in China, is a Chinese music video platform created by Zhang Yiming in September 2016. It is a social network of videos that is usually based on common "challenges" or MEMES. Most videos are completely redesigned and end as fast as you start. The app allows users to watch music, create short clips for up to 60 seconds, adjust them, and add special effects to them. For most of us over the age of 20, these videos are not interested in them. But this is exactly the goal, TechTok is not targeting adult people. But that does not mean that it does not matter to the young user base.

Why social network TekTok is very popular
At first, the Chinese app was a service for editing and publishing short videos for which you can add music. The social network gained popularity outside of China after its acquisition of the musical.ly application, a large user base that automatically became TikTok audience.

What are users already doing on the app
The simple answer is that they make videos about themselves. The most complex answer is that they make videos to sync lips or dance (or both) to popular songs, create funny short videos, or use a wide range of video filters to create self-portrait videos or videos for their friends. Basically, TikTok is a white canvas. Users can, do, and shoot whatever they want. However, it is a huge social experience. Users can add rating tags to their posts to increase viewership, like Instagram or Twitter, and often use these tags to share challenges or meme.
TikTok was launched in 2016 by Beijing-based ByteDance. TikTok (known as Douyin in its home country) merged with the Musical.ly application based in California in August 2018. ByteDance could cost up to $ 1 billion, but adding the Western Musical.ly used base was crucial for TikTok to continue its growth. TikTok viewers earn money from brand partnerships and promote everything from new music to clothing.

Who uses TikTok
We've already hinted at this, but the TikTok user base is small. In fact, the minimum age for users is 13 years, and was previously 12 years before the Indonesian government asked TikTok to raise the minimum age.
